This year's Children's Day, SMIC teachers and students were looking forward to it, and the
lively "International Day" was coming as scheduled.
"International Day" is a traditional festival of SMIC, an important embodiment of SMIC's con-
cept of "community", and an important activity of "life moral education". It aims to help students
understand multi-cultures with humility, respect, cooperation, responsibility and innovation, broa-
den their horizons, and cultivate Chinese people who are "based on China and look at the world;
love the motherland and have the world in mind; care about the mission and take responsibility
bravely; and walk freely in the future world".
In the early morning of June 2, the bustle on the SMIC campus was extremely exciting.
Caring parents came to the class early to make the final preparations for the performances of each
class; the children put on costumes from different countries and regions according to the different
themes of the class; and the teachers changed their costumes creatively, which became an eye-
catching scenery in the campus.
Everything was ready, and happiness was imminent.
At half past eight, the square in front of the building turned into a sea of laughter with the arri-
val of teachers and students.
The melodious singing of the chorus, the creative dance of the aerobics team and the won-
derful performance of the martial arts team opened the prelude to the summer carnival be-
longing to the core babies.
Enthusiastic African dances, elegant folk dances, exotic singing and dancing performances,
youthful and sunny band combinations, gorgeous traditional European costume shows...
The youthful atmosphere of the middle school students rushed to the face, and the enthusiasm
and generosity of the primary school students were full of childhood joy and innocence which
infected every audience present.
The grand gathering in the square won bursts of applause and cheers, and the learning at-
mosphere in the classroom was quite strong. The children held "passports" and travelled with
good friends.
From Asia to Europe, from the Desert Silk Road to the Grassland Silk Road, from the Maritime
Silk Road to the Ancient Tea-Horse Road... The pace of the SMIC babies had not stopped.
Every time they went to a new country or region, there were many new discoveries.
Children learn about the social culture and communication of different countries from language,
religion, music, art, customs and festivals, and understand the geographical environment of
different countries from geographical location, terrain, climate, natural resources, transportation
construction and transportation, etc.
Teacher Bonze is from Cameroon, and her enthusiastic personality is loved by the children.
When she saw the children dancing in their national costumes and the familiar melody sounded,
Bonze felt very cordial, tears welled up in her eyes, and couldn't help but join in.
The second-grade foreign teacher Kameel is from South Africa. It happened that the theme
of the class he taught was his hometown. The children carefully understood the customs and
food of the teacher's hometown, and deeply explored the local cultural and food characteristics.
The display boards in the classroom were made by the children in their spare time one week
in advance. When the "tourists" arrived, the little guides would immediately "start to work" to
explain the local history and culture to everyone and help the "tourists" understand Local specialties.
The performances and activities in the class were also very exciting. The children held "passports",
answered questions, played games, and collected stamps. The joy of childhood is so real and simple.
In a blink of an eye, it was lunch time.
Parents showed their talents and brought special delicacies into the campus. Teachers,
students and parents enjoyed a delicious lunch together. Xinjiang mutton kebabs, roasted
whole lamb, old Beijing roast duck and noodles with fried sauce, traditional Russian food,
pizza and desserts... the children ate a lot and spent a happy and unforgettable festival with
their parents and teachers.
2023 was the third year for SMIC School to study the "Belt and Road" initiative, and it is also
the tenth anniversary of the "Belt and Road" initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping. The
SMIC 2023 "Belt and Road · Growth Road" activity course was based on the previous two
years of course study, and further helped students understand the background, significance,
course, influence, achievement and future development, and then improved students' core
literacy and key abilities.
Words from Mom and Dad
For me, International Day is a joyful participation and a precious experience. Today, seeing
the joy from the heart and the confidence and happiness exuded from the faces of each child,
I am sincerely grateful to the school. Here, they have the appearance that teenagers should
have. Teachers are working hard!
I really feel that the visit time is too short. Each class is carefully crafted, and the content of
each display board is so exquisite and rich. The entire museum should be left alone for a week,
slowly visiting and learning, exploring and discovering.
Due to the epidemic, our second-grade children did not experience such an international day
last year. This year is also our first show (for new parents). I saw everyone's sense of partici-
pation, there is no barrier between classes, and it is full of warmth , full of happiness. I am proud
of the children’s studying and living in such a campus!
Children's thoughts
Every large-scale event held by SMIC is a joint effort between home and school to prepare
creativity and surprises for children's happy growth.
This year's International Day, after nearly a month of research study and preparation, was
successfully concluded in the children's rich creative display and the active participation of
SMIC teachers and parents. But recalling the details of the International Day, happiness is
still vivid.
The learning time when teachers and children explore knowledge together, the parent-child
time when parents encourage and accompany children to make display boards, the busy time
when caring parents and teachers decorate the classroom together, leaving detailed video clips
for children's wonderful moments... ...are all precious memories of the family and school accom-
panying SMIC babies in their growth process.
The study of this year's "International Day" activities will continue and continue to precipitate. With
the exploration and research of project-based learning, may children enjoy happiness and grow up
in this grand event that belongs to them.
