With all kinds of curious questions about nature, in the warm April, the "little honeydew melons"

in the first grade of SMIC School ushered in their first research trip in primary school.

"Spring returns to the earth, everything revives, willows are green and flowers are red, birds

sing and dance..." The tender and lively voice accompanied by the beautiful scenery along 

the way echoed on the happy bus bound for Jingdong Plant Factory!

The children walked into the Jingdong Plant Factory, which is known as the "Social Classroom

Resource Unit for Primary and Secondary School Students in Beijing", to reveal the secrets

behind modern agriculture.

When it comes to growing vegetables, what is the first image that pops into your mind? Will it

still be rows of plastic greenhouses?

Then you could be very wrong.

Coming to Jingdong Plant Factory, what appears in front of you is such a "magic vegetable

factory" without a grain of soil.

"Little honeydew melons" were all personally experienced in seed selection, seedling raising, 

planting, production, harvesting and packaging. Children sowed small seeds with their own 

hands, transplanted them carefully, and put the roots gently in the nutrient solution , witnessing

the beginning of life of each plant.

In the game interaction session, the instructors of the plant factory took the children to expe-

rience interesting games with pictures of vegetables. In the game, everyone got to know all

kinds of vegetables, learned the classification of vegetables, and became familiar with the

edible parts of these vegetables, which further deepened their understanding of vegetables.

Next, the staff of the plant factory explained to the students the knowledge of plant factory fa-

cilities, equipment, varieties, production technology and processes.

Under the teacher's explanation and careful observation through the microscope, the child-

ren learned about chlorophyll and annual rings, and the most important source of nutrition

for plant growth-nutrient solution.

Everyone was so curious about such a magical plant factory that they followed the staff to 

listen carefully to the explanation and became "100000 whys" in seconds.

In order to further let students have a deeper understanding of plant growth, the

staff led everyone to carry out practical teaching.

During the steps of sowing trays, substrate filling, pressing holes, sowing holes,

planting beds, and harvesting, the children learned the key points of the whole

growth process of plants from growth environment to sowing, watering, seedling

growth, and harvesting. .

After experiencing planting, we experienced another " picking addiction"!

When they picked a strong lettuce and tasted the delicious pollution-free vegetable salad, 

even the children who usually did not like vegetables ate it with relish and praised the salad.

During this study trip, the children not only learned a lot about plants, shared delicious organic

vegetables with their families, but also drew the learned knowledge into beautiful pictures, and

combined the graphics in mathematics with jigsaw puzzles to spell out the most impressive

part in our study.

The instructors of Jingdong Plant Factory presented coriander seeds to the children, expec-

ting everyone to sow this "hope from spring".
